Chyme Reinfusion is recommended by the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) and the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) for nutrition in patients with acute intestinal failure.
Chyme reinfusion restores intestinal function and reduces stoma or fistula losses. Patients can recommence oral nutrition for nutrition and hydration, resulting in weight gain, restoration of liver and kidney function, and enabling the patient to mobilise untethered.
Earlier return to oral feeding
Patients able to recommence oral feeding
Improved nutritional outcome
Increase in nutritional risk index by 10.9 (± 9.5) with a 85% reduction in intestinal losses
Improved restoration of gut function
Limiting gut atrophy and inflammation
Improved renal function
Prevents dehydration and reduces the potential for chronic kidney disease
Improved liver function
53% reduction in plasma liver test abnormalities
Wean off Parenteral Nutrition
>91% of patients weaned off parenteral nutrition within a median of 2 days (± 9)
