Dr Chen Liu from the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical & Health Science was announced as the winner of the Scientific Award, presented by Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association at the Congress of Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association (CIRTA) for his abstract titled “Stoma-Output Reinfusion Device for Ileostomy Patients - A Feasibility Study”. Dr Liu’s research assessed patient experience, device performance and resulting clinical outcomes for high-output ileostomates, using The Insides® System to perform the automated process of chyme reinfusion.
The Insides System is a purposed-built chyme reinfusion solution developed and provided by The Insides Company.
The Scientific Award is presented at each CIRTA conference to researchers that have submitted abstracts of a high merit.
The Insides Company would also like to congratulate the other winners: Mathias Clarysse; Cate Fraser-Irwin; Daniela Gattini; Natascha Silva Sandy; and Leandro Emmanuel Vecchio Dezillio, for their outstanding contributions to the research field of intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation.

I hope that this technology will be used more widely to help future patients with intestinal failure. I look forward to contributing to more evidence in this field through the randomized clinical trial that we are currently conducting in loop ileostomy patients”
